Retrospection Overview

Retrospection is a software program which constantly records what has visually occurred on your computer. Retrospection works very much like a VCR that is constantly recording what has been displayed on the computer monitor.  When an error occurs Retrospection makes it easy to play back what has occurred. Using Retrospection will help you review what has happened. The review feature is useful for reading the error messages that you most likely skipped by and did not read.

Retrospection also has a feature to export your captured history as a movie. This feature can be used to send a recorded movie to another individual. Watching a movie is much easier then trying to explain what exactly happened.

Getting Started

Retrospection consists of two programs:

*      Retrospection Viewer

The Retrospection Viewer is used to review past activity.  Some of the more prominent features are:

·         Watch screen activity in forward and reverse mode

·         Pause and copy current image to the Windows Clipboard

*      Retrospection Capture Engine (Server)

The Retrospection Capture Engine runs in the background, its job is to capture and save screen activity. Screen activity is only recorded when some is actually using the computer.  The Capture Engine is designed to use a low amount of the computers resources.  Please see The Retrospection Capture Engine Features and Settings for more details.
